This month's topic is Fan Art!

Fan art is a way for artists to express their admiration or joy for a book, movie, TV show, band, and so many other works of brilliance.
While some people are heavily debating about the legality and originality of Fan Art as such, it is the artists who put their own interpretations and hard work into the artwork.

Himeco is a young artist who devotes herself not only to the Fan Art genre but also to her own original Digital and Traditional artwork.

I have had the pleasure to interview Himeco for Artistle. Below the interview I'll also feature pieces of Fan Art, including some of Himeco's works.

Himeco, Artist | Digital Art

Q: Hello Himeco, would you like to introduce yourself?
A: HIIIIIII *^^* My name’s Klaudia and I’m a student from Poland :> Obsessed with tv shows, books and laziness ;D

Q: Your artwork is often inspired by books, movies and TV series like Harry Potter and Doctor Who. How do you choose which element or scene from those series to paint?/ What is it about those series that inspires you to paint elements from them?
A: Well mostly the reason for me to choose a particular scene or moment is simply coz I liked it. Sometimes I want to see my favourite characters in new situations so I try to draw them doing it  And sometimes like with Doctor Who ,which I actually don’t watch, it’s just a picture for a friend who’s huge fan of it 

Q: What tools do you use to paint your artwork with?
A: On my DA I have only my digital work I guess, some scanned sketches too, so for digital stuff I use Photoshop CS6 and Wacom Intuos 3 :3

Q: For how long have you been painting, and what inspired you to do so?
A: Well I started drawing when I was a kid and coz I liked to do it and was pretty good at it I continued my education so I went to art high school and then Academy of Fine Arts etc, I started playing with digital art around high school I think, or even middle school (coz I already knew PS when I went to high school) I just like it so I keep doing it 

Q: If you like, choose one of your personal favourites from your gallery and tell us something about it.
A: There’s actually many I quite like XD let me think… maybe “ Didn’t want to scare you..”

Didn't want to scare you.... by Himeco
Coz it’s not even a fanart it’s just portrait of my friends. Once one of them dyed his hair green and I couldn’t stop thinking about him as a merman, and his partner is such a prince he just had to become one ;D
Another one is probably Character design for Blood Child the book my friend is writing.
So basically my favourite works are always connected somehow with my friends :3

Q: Do you use any references or resources to help you paint or get inspired? If so, which ones?
A: I do sometimes use references, mostly for poses, I just look for a right one on the internet or ask someone to stand in a way I want them to and take a picture. I lately had returned to using more references coz I had a break in drawing and references always help. Besides it’s the right way of learning and it’s how you SHOULD do it. There’s no shame in using references, only extremely experienced artist who spend hella time staring at ppl and references are able to draw entirely from their heads.

Q: Do you have any idols when it comes to Fan art? If you like, share some of them with our readers and tell us why you find them inspiring.
A: Ok so my first Idol of fan art was definitely Solidetc www5e.biglobe.ne.jp/solid/top-… coz she was drawing my favourite characters in the absolutely beautiful way *^^* then I was obsessed with Lettie, I don’t think she has a DA, never found it, but her talent and her person is just so absolutely flawless I just can’t lettiebobettie.tumblr.com/ I guess those two had the biggest influence on me ;) (Wink)

Q: Some people might think that Fan Art isn't as creative as original artwork, even though artists painting Fan Art often put their very own interpretation of the characters and scenes down to paper. What's your opinion about the whole Fan Art debate?
A: Fan art is for fun. It will make us draw and practice drawing and motivate us to do it. And it’s ART and ART will always be ART you know ;) (Wink) It’s just flawless way of enjoying it even more so ;) (Wink) Because even if artists are making fanarts, it’s still THEIR HAND and THEIR STYLE and whatever they are drawing it’s THEIR ART :3

Q: Is there anything else you would like to tell aspiring artists (Digital Art and Fan Art in particular) and the readers of this interview?
A: KEEP DOING WHAT BRINGS SMILE ON YOUR FACE

Thank you for agreeing to be interviewed for ArtHeart
It was fun and I feel really honoured *^^* thank YOU for wanting to interview me ^^
