Would you like to follow me? :PHey there my dear watchers and friends,
as some of you may already know, I've started a new course at college, which is Communication- and Multimediadesign (CMD for short).
I also made a tumblr about sharing my knowledge of design and several art forms and helping other people reach their goals in that field.
If you'd like you can follow me over there at: http://theonewiththefoxhat.tumblr.com/ .
I'll be happy to see you there!
Take care and stay optimistic!
Photographer of the week: tulawena
With a sense of order AND dynamics, tulawena's still life photos make for some great, and sometimes even a little abstract, artworks.
Photographer of the week: ZahirBatin
The work of ZahirBatin may not be very traditional still life photography, but especially because of its humor and originality it jumps right at you and won't ever let you go.
ZahirBatin uses little dolls and action figures (and a little bit of photo editing ) to create a very lively and intense atmosphere, just well enough that you can almost hear that conversation between R2D2 and that chick. Keep up the great work, ZahirBatin !

Photographer of the week: BeKaphotoWhen I first stumbled upon BeKaphoto's gallery, I guessed she was a professional food photographer for those crisp and perfectly executed photos she took, but when reading her devID description, finding out she is actually a hobbyist trying to get into the professional food photography business, I feel even more overwhelmed by her art.
From great compositions to vibrant colours and rich but never cluttered environments, there is much to discover in BeKaphoto's gallery.

That's how you get pageviewsAnd here you have the number one question that people ask me:
"How the hell did you get so many people to view your art? You're not even that good!"
I can't do anything other than honestly admitting that I'm not that good at art. I'm not some awesomely skilled concept artist, at least. I've seen many people do a better job while receiving a lot less of attention.
Why a medium like DeviantArt works for me? Probably because I've been around on the internet for so long, and I've spend so much time working for internet-marketing company's, that things like advertising and web usability have become a second nature to me. A lot of the things that I've come to regard as common sense in internet communication, are things that are nowadays proven successful by research.
It's important to know that websites like DeviantArt are listed in the category social media. That probably didn't occur to most people, since DeviantArt seems to be so heavily focused towards art (and tradi

How to get feedback on dAWe all joined this site, more or less for this reason, to get feedback on our art. The whole point of submitting art online is for people to see it and hear what they think about it.
Now there are a lot of deviants out there who get little to no feedback and as a result ask the people who faved their art to comment or go to random people on dA and ask for them to look at their art or comment in the hopes that the person will be kind enough to return the favor.
A message to the people who do that, you're doing it all wrong.
Sure, if you ask 20 people who faved your drawing what they thought about it, you might get 1 or 2 answers, but in return, you'll be ignored by say 10 people and you'll annoy 8 people. I get these comments and i'm telling you, begging for feedback is not the way to go, if someone didn't comment when they fave, what makes you think forcing their hand is the right way to go?
A fav is a compliment, take it a it is. Not everyone has
PE: How to Make Pixel CloudsHow to Make Pixel Clouds
In this tutorial, I will be showing you how to make pixel clouds. I have two different types of clouds I use depending on the piece; semi-realistic, and cartoon style. I will be showing you both today!
Let us start!
The semi realistic style can be done two ways, depending on if you are limiting colors or not.
First, I'm going to show you the way for if you do not care how many colors you use.
First you will pull out your pencil brush, as you would normally do when making pixel art, and set the color to white. After that, set the opacity to around 10%-20%.
Randomly brush side to side with the pencil, and then overlap some lines randomly as well.
Keep doing that until the cloud if about as big as you need it; it should look something like this.c:

Kiriban at 1.000.000 - CaughtIt's as simple as it gets;
Catch my 1.000.000th pageview and get a free head-shot sketch from your character (or any character that you like).
(Screenshot needs to be fullscreen and send to me by private message)
The kiriban is caught.
Anyone bother to explain me how it is possible that 2 people caught the exact same thing on screenshot???
After hearing from multiple people having experience with more than 1 guy catching their kiriban, I can only come to the conclusion that it's reasonable.
DA's counter is probably flawed, in the sense that it only counts an IP once. Which would lead people that spend hours refreshing my page, being able to keep track of the pageviews without actually influencing themselves. It's still kind of weird to think that kind of thing actually happens and people are
Olympia: Manet's Biggest ScandalÉdouard Manet (1832-1883), a French painter who is sometimes considered one of the founders of the style of impressionism, caused quite a few scandals throughout his career.
Many of these scandals came into being because of the subject matter which he chose to portray in his paintings. Additionally, there were many critics who found fault in his painting style. Surprisingly, despite the sometimes violent reactions to his works, what Manet was really seeking throughout his painting career was official recognition as a great artist of his time.
At a young age, Manet found in his father an extreme opposition to his desired career as an artist. His father was a magistrate who thought that Manet should choose a “recognized” profession. Attempting to appease his father, Manet tried and fai
Two CritiqueChats coming up!First of all: a happy, good and optimistic year of 2013 for all of you!
We're going to start the year with something many of us enjoyed the most at Artistle during the last year:
... two of them!
An event in our chatroom :#ArtistleChat: where we all meet up, share our work and give and receive honest and helpful critique.
The first of them is going to be on
Sunday, 13th January 2013, 2 pm London Time.
(Check for timezones and your local time for this event here.)
The second of them is going to be on
Sunday, 20th January 2013, 10 am London Time
, and I hope with this we have chosen a good time for our Australian members, as well.
(Check here for your local time for this event.)
Her CatalystAs she walks through the maelstrom, the words trace upon the tips of her fingers and press into the stone. Every brick, every crack in the concrete, every crossed and angular stroke in reds and blacks and oranges. The drips of the gasoline pool around the base of her boots, slosh as she steps over the burst pipes and the rubble.
So much rubble. So little outcry. The silence of the city grates on her eardrums and the mantras she'd been forced to memorize. The Seers demanded they observe thirteen years of recitation before they attempt to weave their first World together.
But who other than the Seers can claim the incantations that knot the skeins they twist and pull on like reins hold fast? When have any of the Sisters recorded the visions they traced upon space-time and recited them, left them open for critique and discussion and debate?
Which is why she walks through the chalky soot of the smashed city around her. This all
